Q: What are NuEyes Featuring ODG smartglasses?

A: NuEyes featuring ODG smartglasses is a product that was built upon technologies originally designed for military use. NuEyes partnered with ODG to make the technology available to people with low vision. This technology can be used to help the visually impaired see again.

Q: How much are NuEyes Featuring ODG smartglasses?

A: NuEyes Easy are priced at $5,995. We plan to release NuEyes Pro in late 2016. NuEyes Pro will be $6,195. NuEyes Pro will offer more advanced features like internet browsing, email and much more.

Q: Can I drive while wearing NuEyes?

A: NO. Do not drive with NuEyes, it is not safe to do.

Q: Is NuEyes covered by insurance?

A: Unfortunately, not at this time. However, there are programs through public schools and universities, the VA Healthcare system, and state and federal agencies that do currently provide assistive technology. Please submit your information and we will connect with you someone in your area who can provide you with these contacts to see if you qualify for assistance.

Q: If I wear prescription glasses, can I get an insert to wear with NuEyes?

A: Yes, this is available as a separate item or it can be ordered by your eye care professional. Please submit your questions online and we will reach out with that information.

Q: Where are the NuEyes made?

A: NuEyes are assembled in the USA

Q: How much do the NuEyes weigh?

A: .27 lbs. (125 grams, iPhone 6 weighs 129 grams)

Q: Is there a light on NuEyes?

A: Yes. It is located on the front of the product and is operated by the remote.

Q: Do I have to buy NuEyes to try them out?

A: No. Low Vision Specialists of Maryland & Virginia offers complimentary product demonstrations to show you the technology without having to purchase them.

Q: How complicated are they to use?

A: NuEyes are easier to use than a television.

Q: What is the battery life on the NuEyes?

A: NuEyes themselves have a 1.5-2-hour battery life depending on how they are used, however a 10-hour battery pack is also included with the product and is attached by a 3-foot cable to the glasses so the pack and easily be carried in a pocket or purse. NuEyes can also be plugged directly into a wall outlet without time limitations.

Q: My NuEyes feel warm on top while I am using them, is this normal?

A: Yes. NuEyes is a fully functioning tablet and just as any tablet or laptop, it will warm up when used. You will not feel any heat on your face, just on the stove top (area on top of glasses) by design and this is completely normal.

Q: Do NuEyes work better in areas with bright light?

A: Yes. NuEyes use a digital camera to stream images and are affected by light, the same as your smartphone or digital camera. The better the lighting, the better they will perform.

Q: Are NuEyes waterproof?

A: No they are not.

Q: What is the warranty on NuEyes?

A: NuEyes come with a two-year warranty.

Q: Can NuEyes be used internationally?

A: Yes, they are compatible with international plugs, you would just need to use an adapter.
