Thomas Azman, O.D. is a world renowned Low Vision Specialist dedicating his life to helping individuals of all ages who suffer from severe vision loss. For over 45 years, Dr. Azman has provided unique comprehensive advanced low vision care to patients challenged by macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, stargardt’s, albinism, and retinitis pigmentosa. His patients come from the next block as well as all corners of the world. Dr. Azman travels extensively treating patients from as far as Australia and Thailand and often lectures on the newest options for enhancing eyesight.
Most people Dr. Azman sees have already been advised that there is nothing else that can be done for them and that eyeglasses will not help them see any better. With over 98% success rate, Dr. Azman has helped thousands of patients regain vision, independence and a quality of life they could only imagine. Dr. Azman received his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland and his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Alabama, School of Optometry, The Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama in 1975.
Dr. Azman is a Fellow in the International Academy of Low Vision Specialists and a member of the Low Vision Rehabilitation Section of the American Optometric Association. Additionally, Dr. Azman has volunteered for eight years as a member of the Maryland State Board of Examiners In Optometry, and he served as the Board President for two years. Low Vision Specialists of Maryland has offices throughout Maryland and Northern Virginia. Dr. Azman also makes house calls for those who are homebound.
Dr. Azman’s mission is to effectively change the lives of his patients who are experiencing significant or reduced vision by providing Advanced Low Vision care and thereby giving patients back their independence.
