TIMONIUM, MD., June 11, 2019 —

In its ongoing commitment to people with vision loss, Low Vision Specialists of Maryland and Virginia (LVS) has launched the Sight-Loss Support Group for those in the greater Baltimore area who are living with low vision or blindness. Led by Diane Ducharme, a certified rehabilitation counselor, the group provides an opportunity for people with vision loss to share their experiences and emotions, learn coping strategies, and discover resources in a safe and comfortable environment. The first meeting will take place on Tuesday, June 25th from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Low Vision Shop, 2219 York Road, Suite 301A, in Timonium, Maryland.

“Living with vision loss can be challenging, but it’s not something you have to face alone,” said Ducharme. “We’ll discuss strategies that help those with vision loss be productive members of society, gain employment, and live a full life. We’ll also help them find the right words to talk about their vision loss with family and friends.”

“We know that what we offer—clinical care, cutting-edge-technology, navigational aids, and wayfinding systems—is essential for those with vision loss, but we also understand the importance of community and human interaction in building a meaningful life,” said Bari Azman, Vice President of Marketing and Technology at LVS. “To that end, we’re sponsoring this group and will continue to support charitable foundations and volunteer efforts.”
