LOW VISION SPECIALISTS OF MD & VA DEMONSTRATES INNOVATIVE SIGHT

ENHANCING MEDICAL DEVICE FOR SUFFERERS OF MACULAR DEGENERATION

Patient demonstration scheduled for June 30th, 2:00-6:00 pm in Timonium, MD

TIMONIUM, MD – JUNE, 2016: Low Vision Specialists of MD & VA (LVS) will unveil and demonstrate the latest high-tech medical device that enhances vision for patients suffering from Macular Degeneration on Thursday, June 30th. The event will be held at LVS’s main clinic located at 2219 York Road, Ste 100, Timonium, Maryland from 2 to 6 pm. Appointments are limited to allow for personal demonstrations so patients are encouraged to sign up quickly.

The low vision medical device, called nuSight, is a prescription-based set of electronic glasses that enhances vision through adjustable magnification and contrast enhancement. The device is designed exclusively for people with Macular Degeneration and restores functional vision for those who are legally blind so that they can return to daily activities. Despite their advanced technology, nuSight glasses weigh the same as conventional glasses and preserve good peripheral vision. They operate for more than 6 hours on a single, rechargeable, removable battery pack and are intended for all-day use.

“Macular Degeneration is the leading cause of vision loss, affecting more than 10 million Americans – more than cataracts and glaucoma combined,” said Thomas Azman, OD. “We believe that those patients deserve to function fully and live normal lives. That is why we continually seek the best options for enhanced eyesight for every patient. Each vision impairment is different, and each patient care scenario is unique. The more innovative treatments we have to offer our patients, the more effective we can be in enhancing their eyesight.”

“This is one more example of the tireless efforts of LVS to pioneer innovative treatments for our patients,” said Bari Azman, Vice President of Marketing & Business Development. “We work hand-in-hand with developers to create disruptive solutions that enhance vision for our patients, many of whom have run out of treatment options. There is no time to stand still in an era when technology can be used to enhance sight for the legally blind.”
