TIMONIUM, MD., May 15, 2019 —

Holly Bonner, internationally renowned author of the Blind Motherhood blog has joined the blogging team of Low Vision Specialists of Maryland & Virginia (LVS). Holly is known for her wry, humorous take on being a legally blind mother, wife and licensed psychotherapist living in New York City. Now she will bring her droll, brutally honest view of the world to LVS as it seeks to expand awareness of low vision and advocate for those who live with it.

Holly joins the LVS blogging team that includes renowned bloggers and vloggers from across the globe. Other members of the team include Sam of The Blind Life, a You Tube vlogger with more than 14,000 subscribers; Dave Steele, The Blind Poet and best- selling author from the UK, and vlogger Lannie D., who was diagnosed with low vision late in life and shares his view of the world.

Holly leapt onto the international blogging stage with her unapologetic honesty about the challenges of motherhood as a woman who is legally blind. From the bold “Sometimes I Just Don’t Feel Like ‘Teaching’ People About Blindness” to the compelling “To Santa, From the Mom

Whose Child Asked You to ‘Fix Mommy’s Eyes’” her blogs tell it like it is, from everyday joys to the undercurrent of frustration that is a part of life with low vision. In addition to her own blog, Holly has been featured in blogs across the globe from Disabled Parenting Project and The Mighty, to VisionAware and WonderBaby.

Holly has also written guest posts for the Royal National Institute for Blind People, Jigsaw Parenting and PuckerMob. She has been featured in Parenting Magazine and interviewed by international media outlets including People Magazine, Daily Mail UK, CBS, NBC and NYC LENS.

Most recently, Holly was appointed by New York City Mayor Bill DeBlasio as a Commissioner of the New York City Civic Engagement Commission. She is one of six commissioners appointed from among 300 applicants to serve on the commission established by voters in 2018 to improve participatory government.

Holly’s posts will bring an extra dimension to the LVS blog team and will be posted on the 20/20 Low Vision Blog.
